A multi-media campaign to introduce Rosanne Somerson as RISD's president. The campaign centered around the breadth of RISD's institutional output. By stating that RISD is in the business of "Narratives that don't exist yet", "Cities that don't exist yet", "Subcultures," "Tools", "Interfaces", "Pedagogies", down to the seemingly banal (chairs, fonts), the campaign states that RISD alumni are making sizable contributions to the manner in which the world works. "Hospitals that don't exist yet" could be an architectural vision, the culmination of newly designed industrial objects, or a new systematic approach to patient intake.
The use of the words "that don't exist yet" suggest inevitability, and the clunky lyrical quality as a product of repetition has allowed the student body to parody the system, poking fun at themselves with "drink tickets that don't exist yet" and to critique the institution at large with "social equities that don't exist yet."
